Boot Camp Blues
You may have seen a few articles like this one floating around lately. Apparently some people are having some issues with Boot Camp messing up their OS X partition leaving them with a shiny Apple computer running Windows.
First off, I would like to point out that the article in question points out that “over a dozen users” have had issues. Sounds like a real epidemic on our hands here. The typical anti-Apple news sources are pushing these articles out like it is a huge problem. And it is not. Admittedly there are likely others that are experiencing problems that don’t report it, but I doubt that we are even talking about a percentage point of people who have tried the software.
Secondly, the software is beta. It says so right in the title. You should expect some kinks that need ironing out. You should always take proper precautions when using beta saftware and have back-ups available. I am not saying that this isn’t a problem. It is a problem and needs to be fixed. But it will be fixed by the time that Boot Camp is ready to rock and roll with Leopard.
Lastly, I am really curious to see how many of the people that are experiencing these problems had previously used the Onmac hack to try running Windows. If I were a betting man I would bet it is a high percentage. Apparently I am the only one curious though since no article I have read has even considered this question.
