Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
I’d like to start off by saying that I have never read the Harry Potter books. I am sure they are quite good and my reluctance to read them is diminishing, but I have not read them. I have enjoyed the movies very much though. They have all been very good productions and highly entertaining.
The latest installment, The Prisoner of Azkaban, has been no exception. In fact, I liked this one the best of the three so far. It’s always difficult to say what makes one good movie better than another good movie, so I have had a bit of a tough time explaining why I liked it better. I think it was just a little more grown up than the other two.
The previous movies were great, but they were targetted at a younger demographic (as they should be). While my inner child enjoyed them very much, my grown up self wanted something more I guess. This film was somehow able to bridge the gap for me. Both sides agreed that this was a very good story and very well executed on film. It had enough twists to keep the story interesting, but not so many you get lost in trying to keep everything straight. They also did a good job in building up to the finale and tying together all the loose ends.
I haven’t purchased the other films yet, but I have wanted to. This one may be the one to get things rolling. I definitely will be buying this one when it comes out. And since you can’t have only one of a set, I guess I better get the other two as well.
If you haven’t seen this one yet (do you live in a cave?) you should do so. If you haven’t seen the first two, you may want to see them first. It isn’t necessary, but it introduces you to the characters and back story.
