Joost and Viacom
This is the beginning right here. Viacom and Joost have announced a deal to put some of Viacom’s content on the Joost network. If things go well ? like they should ? you can bet on seeing a lot more content providers signing agreements with Joost.
As I mentioned previously, I am excited to try out the Joost program and see what it is like. I really hope that it can become a new distribution method for video content. I don’t think Joost will be replacing TV anytime soon, but it does create a new opportunity.
All the current IPTV solutions have some pretty big draw backs. Streaming video is limited to small windows and low quality. Download services are hampered by long download times and no live content (think news and sports). Joost could potentially solve both obstacles. If they can get good, legitimate content then I think it may be a slam dunk.
