Let the Man Play
When the whole Brett Favre brouhaha started up a few weeks ago I was extremely excited. I love Brett Favre, and frankly don’t see how anyone couldn’t. He is a legend and when he announced he was retiring I was sad to see him go. Then the rumors started.
The answer seemed like a no-brainer to me: Let the man play. I really don’t see how you can can tell a first ballot Hall of Famer, “um…yeah, we kind want to go with this other guy.” A guy, that has never started a game and has even managed to get injured in the pre-season…last pre-season! And if they are so confident in Rodgers then why did they use their 3rd and 7th round picks on QBs. I know they need a backup, but using a 3rd round pick on a QB says, “we want some insurance in case Rodgers doesn’t work out.” I understand that they had to make plans once Brett said he was retiring. I know Rodgers has been waiting a long time for this shot, but still…it’s Brett Favre, man!
Well, if the sources are correct, it looks like Favre will be getting his old job back. Oh sure, it’s not a done deal, yet. He will have to compete for his old job, but seriously, does anyone expect Brett Favre to lose that competition? Anyone?…Anyone?…Bueller?
