Nine One One

So Thing 1 decided that he had enough on Saturday. He just couldn’t take the oppression anymore. Thing 2 was monopolizing the TV watching ?Star Horse? and Mom and Dad were ignoring his pleas for some Wiggles action. So he took matters into his own hands.

At least that’s what I think happened. All I really know for sure is from a phone conversation I had. It went a little something like this:

Me: Hello?

Voice on the line: This is the Orem Police Department. We just received a 911 call from this number. Is everything okay there?

Me: Um?yeah. My son must have been playing with the phone.

911 Operator: So everything is fine then?

Me: Yeah. Sorry about that.

911 Operator: That’s okay.

Somehow he managed to dial 911 on my cell phone. A phone that I keep locked so that he can’t make any other calls. It still allows 911 calls but you have to push 9-1-1. 9-3-5-1-4-8-2-1 will not work. So he managed to dial 911 and connect.

As my Mom said, if it had been Thing 2 you would just write it off as a random coincidence. But with Thing 1 you have to leave open the possiblity that he dialed it because he saw that number somewhere. Maybe they had a lesson on that at school or something? Ah, kids. They’re a blast, aren’t they.
