The Return of the King: Extended Edition
Okay, so the Extended Edition is finally available for pre-order and I can’t wait. The problem is, of course, that I have to. It will not be released until December 14, 2004. So it kind of goes without saying here that this isn’t so much a review as a promotion.
I loved the Lord of the Rings series and was sad to see it end in a way. The last three years have always left me something to look forward to. But now the road is really coming to an end. After the Extended Edition is released, there will be no more fun to be had. No more release dates to wait for, but its been a good ride.
If you haven’t seen the Extended versions of the films, you are missing out. There are so many more little tidbits to enjoy especially if you loved the books. Peter Jackson has added a lot of those little touches back in and The Return of the King promises to be no different.
They have increased the film by a staggering 50 minutes of extra scenes. That is huge as the others only added a paltry (by comparisison) 30 minutes each. The total running time now is 250 minutes! That’s over 4 hours of fun, folks! Make sure you use that time between disc swaps for a bathroom break.
I won’t include any spoilers about what to expect here. If you (like me) can’t wait to get an idea of what has been added back in, then click that link above to visit Amazon.com and read some reviews. There are plenty of peole willing to share spoilers in there. All I know is that it seems like December 14th will never come.
