Vertigo by U2
Well it’s been a while since U2 put out a song like this one. Like pretty much much everyone in the world I like a good U2 song. I like pretty much all of their early stuff, but I haven’t really gotten into their newer stuff.
My first exposure was (shockingly) Achtung Baby! which I loved. I then bought a few of their earlier albums (yes, Joshua Tree, I hear you music snobs snickering out there) to experience what everyone else already knew. Zooropa hit and I bought it and enjoyed a few of the songs, but not as much as their previous work. I totally passed up Pop and the next one (can’t remember the name and I am too lazy to look it up), but I did like the song Beautiful Day. But I hadn’t really connected with any of their new stuff, until Vertigo.
Vertigo is just a good old fashioned rock and roll song. Great beat and guitar, fast tempo, and good times. It doesn’t really remeind me of any of the old U2, but it just has that great rock beat I crave. I really hope the rest of the album is in this same vein as it would make me want to get a U2 album again, which hasn’t happened in a while. If not, I will just get Vertigo (bless the iTunes Music Store) and be happy. Rock on!
